{"id":779,"date":"2016-06-21T18:22:15","date_gmt":"2016-06-21T17:22:15","guid":{"rendered":"\/?p=779"},"modified":"2016-06-21T18:22:15","modified_gmt":"2016-06-21T17:22:15","slug":"whats-mobile-mobility-practices-and-systems-of-mobilities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/cemore\/whats-mobile-mobility-practices-and-systems-of-mobilities\/","title":{"rendered":"What&#8217;s Mobile: Mobility Practices and Systems of Mobilities"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>James Faulconbridge\u2019s research focuses on the now central role of mobility in both day-to-day social life and in the reproduction of business practices.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/augS9yMgIRA\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" data-load-mode=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Drawing on and contributing to work on the \u2018mobilities turn\u2019 in the social sciences, as well as work on concepts of practice and institutions, some of James&#8217; recent projects include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Research, funded by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rcuk.ac.uk\/research\/xrcprogrammes\/energy\/\">Research Councils Energy Programme<\/a>, examining the embeddedness of business travel in the work practices of engineering consultancy firms, as part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.demand.ac.uk\/\">DEMAND Centre<\/a><\/li>\n<li>A <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rcuk.ac.uk\/research\/xrcprogrammes\/energy\/\">Research Councils Energy Programme<\/a> funded project focusing on mobility and the implications of disruptions to mobility for personal and business lives and for the carbon impacts of travel<\/li>\n<li>A European Research Council funded network exploring \u2018The Future of Business Mobilities\u2019<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>This presentation was given during the event \u2018<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/fass\/centres\/cemore\/event\/5507\">CeMoRe Showcase and Lunch<\/a>\u2019.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/lums\/people\/james-faulconbridge\">James Faulconbridge<\/a> is Professor at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/lums\/\">Management School<\/a>.
